Welcome to Team Panguma!
Team Panguma Website
Team Panguma is the name adopted for Camp Hill United Methodist’s mission relationship with our sister church in Panguma, Sierra Leone. The name originally referred to our team of eight people (Shawn Berrier, Fred Clark, Jim Foster, Beth Notarfrancesco, Denise Paran, Carolyn Shover, Pastor Brian Sweeney and Mark Vickrey) who visited Panguma, located near the diamond producing regions of the country and devastated by the long civil war, in February-March 2010. Now it represents the relationship between the two churches.
Panguma, Sierra Leone, Africa
In the two years since Camp Hill UMC’s first connection with Panguma, Sierra Leone, Africa, with God’s guidance and with your prayers, support and giving, our suburban American church has reached out to this small, remote, war-torn African village and
• Rebuilt the Lower Bambara/Panguma United Methodist Church
• Begun the building of a new UM parsonage, which is totally pre-funded through your gifts
• Purchased 10 sewing machines, sewing materials and five cookstoves for the secondary school
• Provided funds for 100 secondary school scholarships
• Shipped 85 cartons of supplies for the primary & secondary schools
• Sent 10 computers and peripheral equipment to introduce the secondary school to the age of computers for the first time
• Purchased and sent a 5KW generator to run the computers
• Sponsored and paid for a primary school feeding in November 2010 during one of our mission trips
• Laid the groundwork for a sustainable agriculture program and begun a plan to restore electricity to much of the community
We feel deeply blessed to have begun what we hope to be a long relationship with the people of Panguma, making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Thank you!
