Greetings All,
I hope it is well with all of you!
As many of you know we have cancelled our October 22 VIM journey to Alabama to rebuild the homes and lives that were destroyed earlier this year by tornados. Sue and I and our team of twenty six volunteers are extremely disappointed that we will not be travelling together because we believe that this trip would have afforded great opportunities to make Disciples of Jesus Christ. However, we also believe that our God is sovereign and that it is His will that we work locally in flood recovery during this period of time. We have already encountered many opportunities for ministry and mission that were not open to us before the flooding.
We are tentatively planning a Williamsport area week of VIM projects during the week that we would have been in Alabama (October 22 to 29). We are tentative at this point because we are waiting for flooded houses to dry out enough so that rebuilding can begin.
So, if you would, please save the dates and consider joining us for a day, several days or the week. We will provide housing for those of you who are out of the immediate area and will furnish meals in the typical Methodist tradition. Costs will be minimal compared to the application fees for our out-of-area journeys.
As soon as we’ve pinned down the specifics, we’ll contact you again.
Thanks for your consideration of this new opportunity to serve our God.
Peace and Grace,
John
