Greetings VIM Vets!

The Altoona District VIM Team now has a website that you can use to check our schedule of planned mission trips, photos from past mission trips, daily reports while we are on a mission trip, etc.

Check it out and let me know if you have any suggestions to improve it.

Greetings!

The Saturday return trip from Vanceboro, NC to Pennsylvania started out with fog, then rain and finally sunshine.  The VIM team had a very good week, but they will no doubt enjoy sleeping in their own bed at home tonight.

Thanks again to all of the mission team members but especially the eleven who came with the Altoona District Mission Team for the first time.

God bless,
Ron

Hey folks!

We had a safe travel day and arrived mid-afternoon at our Vanceboro home-away-from-home.  One of our host churches (we have two homes) had a meal for us on Sunday evening.  We can’t say enough about the great hospitality from the Vanceboro community.

After a good night of sleep, the team is anxious to get to our projects.  This area has really been hit hard from multiple storms.

Thanks to all the supporters back home.

God bless,
Ron

Howdy y’all!

Well, the week has come to an end, and although VIM team members always wish they could have done more, this group of volunteers have made a Christian difference on 6 assigned projects plus a couple of repairs at the Vanceboro UMC.

Friday afternoon team member get a chance to explore the local community and see something other than their project sites.  The evening meal is our traditional opportunity to take the family members that we have supported out for supper, but this time for a variety of reasons including health, distance and other commitments, none of the families could attend.  We were blessed with attendance of the regional project coordinator, his wife, the pastor of the Epworth UMC which housed part of our team and two members of the Epworth congregation who fed us on Wednesday.

We enjoyed an excellent meal at Vera’s Diner, great fellowship and another surprising example of the outstanding Vanceboro hospitality we keep mentioning.  A family we knew from our spring mission trip happened to be eating at Vera’s tonight.  When I went to pay the bill, that family picked up the tab for our entire team and guests.  Somehow “thanks” just does not seem to be enough to express the team’s appreciation.

Thanks again to all of the VIM team support structure.  I would also like to thank each and every member of this awesome mission team.

God bless,
Ron

Greetings!

Thursday the 2nd roofing job / porch building project was nearly completed, and the siding job was started, but when the current siding was removed, several other problems were discovered.  So Friday we will work on fixing those problems and getting the house protected from the weather, but the vinyl siding will have to been completed by another team.

The gang at the “big house” is continuing to make progress but will be busy until we have to wrap it up tomorrow after noon.

This evening we enjoyed a very nice meal that our team members prepared.  Then we wrapped up with evening devotions and a team meeting.

Thanks again to all of the VIM team support structure.

God bless,
Ron
